With extensive experience in surgical and wound management, he possesses deep expertise in the complexities of wound healing, advanced treatment modalities, and evidence-based patient care strategies.

After earning his medical degree and completing rigorous training as a General Surgeon in Cuba, Carlos A. Vilar developed a passion for wound care, recognizing its critical role in improving patient outcomes and quality of life. He later advanced his career in the United States, obtaining a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and becoming a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC), further specializing in comprehensive wound healing as a Certified Wound Healing and Prevention Specialist (CWHAP).

With a focus on managing acute and chronic wounds—including diabetic ulcers, pressure injuries, venous stasis ulcers, and complex surgical wounds—Carlos A. Vilar utilizes cutting-edge therapies such as negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), bioengineered tissue substitutes, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. His expertise extends beyond treatment to preventive care, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure optimal healing outcomes.
